To highlight the supply chain and logistics industry, the second annual Richmond LogistXGames were held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Liberty Property’s Richmond Distribution Center at 4101 Carolina Avenue in Richmond, Va to benefit Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA). Representatives of Liberty Property Trust, CBRE|Richmond, CCWA, Port of Virginia, Rite-Hite Corporation, Greater Richmond Partnership, and Richmond Commercial Services put on the event.
This competition included eight of the region’s top logistics players: CCWA, CBRE |Richmond, Port of Virginia, McKesson, FDH Velocitel, Riverside Logistics, and Best Bully Sticks. “This is a fun event, but at the end of the day it has a really important cause,” said Wood Thornton, of CBRE|Richmond Co-Chair of the games. “We see the importance of promoting teamwork, safety standards, and employee pride through the LogistXGames.”
“CCWA was excited to bring back this event for another year,” said Wes Smith, Manufacturing Workforce Development Coordinator at CCWA and Co‐Chair. “We are continuing our commitment to enhancing performance and productivity within the logistics firms in the Greater Richmond area and providing students with scholarships.”
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit workforce development programs at the Community College Workforce Alliance.
Four events sparked fierce competition and tested the teamwork, talent, efficiency and speed of each competing company. The games mirror the logistics work environment, with an added twist: Pallet Puzzle Sprint, Pallet Jack Relay, Pick/Pack Hurdle and Box Put.
The 2016 Richmond LogistXGames bragging rights go to:
- Golden Pallet – Riverside Logistics
- Silver Pallet – Best Bully Sticks
- Bronze Pallet – McKesson
