CCWA’s EducateVa is piloting a new program for skilled trades workers that had a 100% success rate in credential attainment in its first class! It helped seven trades’ workers, without education or experience, become credentialed to teach.
EducateVA, a statewide initiative to address critical shortages in the teaching profession, is the largest alternative teacher licensure program in the Commonwealth and provides a practical, affordable route to becoming a teacher.
Our new pilot program is designed to meet the specific need for trades teachers in areas such as electrical and HVAC, welding, automotive technology, cosmetology and culinary arts. The program assists skilled trades workers in earning a license to teach career and technical education at the secondary school level, helping provide a solution to the shortage.
