Nurse-Aide-Program-Now-Fully-In-House

At the close of 2024, CCWA proudly celebrated the graduation of 9 students from our first in-house Nurse Aide program cohort. This marked a major achievement following last year’s opening of the new Nurse Aide Lab at the Reynolds Community College downtown campus.

The state-of-the-art space, approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing, has been a game-changer for enhancing CCWA’s overall healthcare programming. For the first time, CCWA now offers all Nurse Aide courses directly on campus. Previously, students attended off-site classes through a third-party provider.

Led by our first Nurse Aide faculty member, Kathy Godard, the program is already showing strong results. With dedicated resources and a fully equipped lab, we expect to see continued growth in student completions and credential attainment through 2025. Since moving the program in-house, over 40 students have successfully completed the program.

The nursing assistant field is projected to grow over the next decade. CCWA’s Nurse Aide program is helping to meet this demand by equipping students with essential hands-on training and the skills to support patients in long-term care. Training includes legal responsibilities, specialized care and a variety of patient support tasks.
