Governor Abigail Spanberger has signed Virginia's biennial budget, which includes more than $73 million to support the New Economy Workforce Credential Grant Program (FastForward). The budget also invests $20 million to expand career and technical education programs across the Virginia Community College System, along with additional funding for workforce development facilities and regional initiatives.
For the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA), this investment strengthens our ability to deliver short-term, industry-recognized credential programs that prepare Virginians for careers in high-demand fields while helping employers build the skilled workforce they need.
Expanding Access to Workforce Training
FastForward helps reduce the cost of workforce training, making it easier for Virginians to earn credentials that lead to meaningful careers in fields such as:
- Healthcare
- Skilled Trades
- Manufacturing
- Information Technology
- Transportation and Logistics
These programs are designed to help students complete training in months, earn industry-recognized credentials, and enter the workforce quickly.
