CCWA recently launched its first Fiber Optics Installer
Certification program in July 2025. This program is designed to teach
individuals about the fundamentals of fiber optics and provide hands-on
experience with installing, maintaining and repairing cables. Covering the
basics of fiber and transmission theory, the first class of seven trainees
gained the skills necessary to be well prepared for the ETA Fiber Optic
Installer (FOI) Exam. All seven students passed the tests to earn their
credentials upon completion.
As the world becomes more online and data-driven, skilled fiber
optics, HVAC and electrical technicians are more essential than ever to support
the growing data center industry. In fact, CCWA graduates about 60 Electrical 1
students per year who go on to help meet this demand.
The need for a robust and reliable communication infrastructure is
skyrocketing, driven by the expansion of high-speed internet, 5G connectivity
and smart technology. For this first fiber optics class, companies like MasTec and Team Fishel came and
met with CCWA students in-person to discuss open positions, highlighting the
growing opportunities for job seekers with these skills in the local market.
CCWA makes finding opportunities in these fields accessible
by providing both personal and financial support to individuals ready to take
the next steps in their careers.
It's never too late to start!
