Class Description
This program will prepare participants to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification toward the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s (PTCB) exam. Technicians work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other pharmacy settings. Today there is a very high demand for quality pharmacy technicians. This comprehensive 426-hour program prepares students for entry-level pharmacy technician roles. This course is offered in partnership with the Bremo Pharmacy Training Center, and it is ASHP accredited meeting the current Virginia Board of Pharmacy requirements for registration as a pharmacy technician trainee.
Curriculum provides comprehensive coverage of the pharmacy technician scope of practice, including Pharmaceutical Calculations, Medication Dispensing, Pharmacology, Pharmacy Law & Ehtics, Medication Safety, Professional Communication Skills.

This is a hybrid program, combining online instruction and in-person lab sessions.
- Online: 136 hours
- Seven (7) In-person Practice Simulations are on rotating Fridays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.: up to 65 hours
- Supervised Internships in Real Pharmacy Settings: 224 hours
